BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB OF LAWRENCE        Job Smart/Job Ready


Job Smart/Job Ready is a career exploration/work readiness initiative for female members ages 14 -18 yrs. The goal is to expose the girls to the broad choice of careers available to them and help them to achieve higher level career aspirations and the self-confidence and knowledge to ensure their economic self sufficiency.   http://www.lawrencebgc.com


EMMAUS INC.                        The Bethel Learning Center


The Bethel Learning Center program targets low income community women living in Emmaus’ emergency shelter and transitional housing programs who are not eligible for other government career center programs.  The Learning Center empowers these mothers  with the life, employment, and financial literacy skills needed to become financially self-sufficient.    http://www.emmausinc.org


GIRLS INCORPORATED OF LYNN            Career Path


The Career Path program seeks to provide role models for young girls from families that live well below the poverty line.  With economic self sufficiency as its goal, the program teaches economic literacy skills and their application and shows the connection between career choice and reaching that goal. Summer internships help expand their awareness of careers and give them the economic knowledge, skills and experience to reach their career goals.   http://www.girlsinclynn.org


JEANNE GEIGER CRISIS CENTER        Economic Independent Program


The mission of the Economic Independent Program is to provide women with the knowledge, resources, support and confidence necessary to attain economic stability for themselves and their families. The inability to support herself and her children is the number one reason women stay in abusive relationships. This 12 month program with individual attention and peer support hopes to break the cycle of abuse once and for all.

LAWRENCE COMMUNITY WORKS        New Skills Academy


The New Skills Academy, a community engaged skills training path, provides women with an intensive six month program of “new basic skills training” for entry level administrative positions available in the city and region. Job networking and placement assistance are included.  The basic skill instruction includes accounting, computers, English as a Second Language and soft skills development appropriate for job-readiness training.  http://www.lcworks.org

NOTRE DAME EDUCATION CENTER                Friday Finance


Friday Finance focuses on supporting successful job placement for the graduates of the Nursing Assistant Training Program. The classes cover resume writing, job search techniques, practice interviews and fringe benefit counseling. The goal of this program is for the women to find placement in a career that will empower them to attain financial sustainability for themselves and their families.   http://www.ndeclawrence.org


WELLSPRING HOUSE                    The Medi-Clerk Program


The MediClerk Program is an innovative collaboration between Wellspring House and North Shore Medical Center to provide job training and placement to low income women living in North Shore Communities. The 13 week program provides instruction in Medical Office Procedures, Medical Terminology, Medical Keyboarding, Business Communication, Professional Success and Job Search Strategies. Wellspring House supervises and supports the participants through the first twelve months of employment.  http://www.wellspringhouse.org


GREATER LAWRENCE YWCA            Economic Empowerment Program


The Economic Empowerment Program seeks to assist survivors of domestic violence and their families, formerly abused teen mothers, and homeless single women from the YWCA’s transitional living programs in attaining self -sufficiency and autonomy through developing skills in financial management and job readiness.  It is well known that economic security is critical to survivors of domestic violence and other abuse.  http://www.ywcalawrence.org
